VISITING ALASKA

When many people think of Alaska, they vision a vast cold land with Walruses, Whales, and Polar Bears. Alaska does have all that, and it is a vast land, however, summer does come to some parts of the country and it is said the people of Alaska are warm and welcoming.

Back in 1741, the first Europeans coming to the state were Russians.  Over time, survivors of expeditions returned home with fur and skins, which began to build the fur trade.  The Russians maintained control over the Alaskan land until it appeared as if the land would be attacked from Canada.  Then, fur profits began to decline, which ultimately led to the United States taking over the land in 1867 for $7.2 million.

By the 1890s, the Klondike gold rush occurred, which doubled the population in Alaska's capital.  Then by 1900 during the peak of the gold rush era, over $22 million of gold was panned.  However, production of gold stopped in 1966 at which time $220 million of gold had been panned over the years!

Today, Alaska is a vast land with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.  Because of this, people vacation there often.  With an abundance of wildlife, you would likely see grizzly bear or humpback whales.  Without doubt, traveling through Alaska is like no other place on earth, offering diversity of landscape and the adventure of a lifetime.

Today, trapping is not allowed and most of the people who go to Alaska for vacations and adventures. Alaska has a lot to offer those who like to journey into the great outdoors. There's hiking, camping, fishing, exploring all over the great state and as long as you’re careful and respectful of the wilderness, you may get the chance to see a grizzly in the wild, along with all the other critters that live in Alaska.

So if your considering a vacation, and you have been to all the other hot vacation spots other countries have to offer, why not stay in this country and enjoy some of the wonderful beauty Alaska has to offer? Many feel it's an adventure that should not be missed and you wouldn't want to miss out on anything during your lifetime, would you?
