The best times and places to fish South Central Alaska.
Saltwater fishing Homer, Alaska (Mid) March: Fishing the winter king salmon derby, catching those feeder kings. (Late) April – (Late) July: Halibut fishing or halibut/salmon combo trips.
Deep Creek, Ninilchik, Anchor Point
(Early) May – June, 7: Good shallow water halibut fishing and the first run of King salmon, so you mite want to try a halibut/salmon combo charter. June, 8 – (Mid) Aug: Trophy halibut fishing. Time for them Shooters. July 1 – 10: Second run for King salmon (the big boys). So if you what big kings and halibut you’re going to want a combo trip.
Seward, Alaska
(Late) July – (Late) Aug: Fishing Silver Salmon, Ling Cod, Rock Fish, Yellow eyes and halibut. The silver salmon derby runs the second and third week of Aug. Time for fast and furious silver salmon fishing.
